JOB OPPORTUNITY - COMPUTATIONAL LINGUIST
The Austrian Research Institute for Artificial Intelligence (OeFAI),
Vienna, Austria, offers a position as a Junior Researcher in its
Language Technology Group.
The position is to be filled asap.
The successful applicant will participate in a basic research project
that aims at investigating and exploiting the combination of
linguistically motivated rule-based and statistical part-of-speech
tagging methods for German. The project is funded by the Austrian
Science Foundation (FWF).
S/he has finished her/his diploma or an equivalent degree in
- general/computational linguistics, with a background in
computer science
or
- computer science or a comparable study, with a background
in linguistics.
S/he has experience in
- corpus-based linguistics, finite state methods, or a related area;
- programming, preferably C and/or Perl and/or Java.
Fluency in German and/or English is expected.
The candidate will join an ongoing project, which runs till May 2006.
Continued employment after the end of the project is possible.
The candidate is encouraged to realize her/his Ph.D. within the
project.
The salary will correspond to FWF regulations, i.e. the yearly gross
salary is Euro 22.400.
