Summer school in language contact and language acquisition will take place from
1-4 August 2005. On 5 August there will be a workshop in conjunction with the
summer school. Students are encouraged to present a short paper during the workshop.

Lecturers:
Carol Myers-Scotton, University of South Carolina (USA)
Kenneth Hyltenstam, University of Stockholm (Sweden)
Ann Bradlow, Northwestern University (USA)
Yan-Kit Ingrid Leung, University of Essex (UK)

The lecturers will discuss language contact and language acquisition from
different theoretical perspectives (i.e. both UG-based and non UG-based
theoretical frameworks) and in various linguistic fields (phonetics/phonology,
morphology/syntax, sociolinguistics). Naturally, second language acquisition
will be a central topic, given that it involves language acquisition in contact
situations. A full program will be announced later.

There is no fee.

Participants must find accommodation themselves, but the organizers will try to
help in case of problems.

If you want to participate or have any questions, please contact:

Wim van Dommelen wim.van.dommelen at hf.ntnu.no,
Tor A. Åfarli tor.aafarli at hf.ntnu.no, or
Kristin M. Eide Kristin.Eide at hf.ntnu.no

Deadline for registration is 15 June 2005.
