Chair, Department of Communication Sciences
Temple University is undergoing significant research and academic growth in
its various Colleges and Departments. Under the direction of the President,
Provost and the newly appointed Dean of the College of Health Professions,
the Department of Communication Sciences has been charged with increasing
its research and scholarly endeavors. Applications are invited for the
position of Chair of the Department of Communication Sciences. The
Department currently enjoys being ranked among the top 35 Communication
Sciences departments in the nation with Doctor of Philosophy (PhD),
Master's degrees in Speech-Language Pathology and an undergraduate major in
Communication Sciences programs.

their clinical expertise, professional service and research achievements.
The Department is part of one of the country's premier urban research
universities known for its commitment to diversity. The College is located
on the Temple Health Sciences Campus with the schools of medicine,
dentistry and pharmacy. The Department of Communication Sciences is housed
on the Temple Main Campus a short distance away.
The successful candidate will be an outstanding leader with an active,
clinically relevant research agenda and a strong record of research
publications and external funding. The Chair will have the opportunity to
guide the department through an exciting period of expansion of research
under a new central administration and a new Dean of the College. This not
only entails resources available to continue a vigorous research agenda,
but also to nurture the growth of established and junior researchers in the
department, as well as recruitment of additional faculty appointments as
the program develops. There is a strong potential for collaboration with
other departments, schools and colleges within the university. The
candidate will have experience in post-professional graduate education to
support the PhD program and a record of mentoring faculty and building
research.
Qualifications include a post-professional doctorate (PhD or equivalent) in
Communication Science or in a field related to Communication Sciences. The
candidate must be eligible for a full-time, tenured appointment at the
level of Associate Professor or Professor that includes a track record of
external funding and peer reviewed publications.
