LINGUISTICS AND ENGLISH LANGUAGE
The School of Languages, Linguistics and Cultures is one of the
largest and most successful such groupings in the UK, enjoying
outstanding research ratings, strong external grant income and
a good record of postgraduate and undergraduate recruitment.
Linguistics and English Language contributes significantly to the
School's success and has an important role to play in its
development. A new lectureship in English Language has been
created to build on this contribution, The post is offered either
in the English language since 1500, or in the contemporary
English language, with preference for candidates able to
contribute to teaching and research in language and culture
and/or gender, or in stylistics. The successful candidate will
contribute to the development of research and teaching in their
field, offering courses at postgraduate and undergraduate
level in keeping with their research expertise.
Also available is a temporary post available for one year from
January 2006 in English Historical Linguistics, with preference
for candidates able to contribute to research-led teaching in
English grammar and in Middle English.
The permanent post in English Language is available from
September 2005, and the temporary post in English Historical
Linguistics is available from January 2006.
Salary: Permanent post: up to Lecturer A, £23,643 - £24,820 per
annum; temporary post: Lecturer A, £23,643 per annum.
