Description:

SVOX AG is a dynamic technology company specialized in text-to-speech. We
are seeking to add a TTS expert with a proven track record in signal
processing to our development team. You will create new unit selection
voices for use with our state-of-the-art text-to-speech engine, interact
with language specialists, and drive improvements at all levels of signal
generation in the SVOX framework.

We invite applications from senior researchers in the TTS field as well as
promising new talents. As a successful leader in the embedded
text-to-speech market, SVOX offers highly competitive salaries and

fast-paced, results-oriented environment.

Tasks and Responsibilities:

* Drive innovation in unit selection based signal generation:
o preparation of text material
o recording and sound engineering
o transcription and segmentation
o run-time unit selection algorithm
o evaluation and quality control
* Quickly integrate into current SVOX development process for new voice
databases and new languages
* Version control of signal generation components
* Contribute and implement new ideas for acoustic compression and
parsimonious unit representation
* Design and implement new database development tools in collaboration
with language specialists
* Interface with text analysis specialists and with sales staff


Qualifications and required Skills:

* A degree (PhD or MSc) in computer science or electrical engineering
and 5+ years experience in signal processing
* Outstanding programming skills in
o digital signal processing (e.g. Matlab, C)
o natural language processing (e.g. Prolog)
o script writing (e.g. Tcl, Python)
* Experience in text-to-speech technology and unit selection
* Multi-lingual: knowledge of Scandinavian, Slavic, or Asian languages
is a strong plus
* Excellent organization and communication skills
* High comfort level interacting with linguists, engineers, and sales
* Willingness to relocate to Zurich, Switzerland
