The purpose of this seminar is to look at the contributions (actual and
potential) of different theoretical and methodological approaches to gender and
language study, e.g.:

- Critical discourse analysis
- Conversation analysis
- Corpus linguistics
- Discursive psychology
- Feminist post-structuralist discourse analysis
- Sociolinguistics

CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

We are now inviting proposals for contributions to this seminar.

Contributions will be in the form of 15-minute papers, followed by discussion.
All participants in the seminar will contribute with a paper. Each contribution
will be aimed at generating subsequent discussion.

We seek contributions that clearly focus on a particular theoretical and
methodological approach - either one of those indicated above, or a different
one. Please indicate in brackets, after the title of your abstract, the approach
your submission follows, exemplifies, or critically examines. Contributions
should have a theoretical or methodological focus, and any data and findings
will clearly relate to this.

Abstracts will be anonymously reviewed on the basis of the following criteria:

- Relevance to the focus of the seminar
- Awareness of the debates surrounding the approach focused upon
- Clear and specific presentation of points
- Opportunities the contribution is likely to make for further discussion
- Distribution of approaches across the whole seminar

Guidelines:
- Each person may submit ONE abstract only
- Abstracts must be submitted by e-mail only. Please submit your abstract as a
regular, single e-mail message (no attachments or any special formatting).

Please include:
- Name(s) of author(s) (should not appear in text of the abstract)
- Author affiliation(s), e-mail and mailing address, phone no.
- Title
- Relevant theoretical/ methodological approach adopted (see above)
- Up to 3 keywords
- Abstract (300 words maximum, excluding any references)

NOTIFICATION: August 2005, when more details about the structure of the seminar
will also be available. We will also provide more details of costs, which we are
trying to keep as low as possible.

We expect this event to result in a Cambridge University Press edited publication.

We also hope that this seminar will develop a sense of cohesion and identity to
the proposed new BAAL Gender and Language Special Interest Group.

THEMES AND GOALS

Vocabularies, ontologies and rules are key components of a model-driven approach
to enterprise computing in a networked economy. VORTE is the first of what  we
hope will be many workshops that bring together researchers and practitioners in
areas such as philosophical ontology, enterprise modeling, information  systems,
semantic web, MDA (Model-Driven Architecture) and business rules to discuss the
role of foundational and lightweight ontologies in the development  of
conceptual tools for enterprise computing.

The Workshop Encourages Submissions on topics including  (but not limited to)
the following:

- Business Vocabularies
- Business Rules
- Enterprise Integration and Interoperability
- Ontological Foundations for Conceptual Modeling and Metamodeling
- Vocabularies and Foundational Ontologies for Enterprise Information Systems
- Enterprise Modeling and Simulation
- Foundations for the Model-Driven Architecture (MDA)
- Enterprise Computing and the Semantic Web
- Enterprise Reference Architectures
- Enterprise Domain Engineering

SUBMISSION GUIDELINES

All submissions will be formally peer reviewed. Submissions should be 4 to 8
pages long in IEEE Computer Society format and include the author's name,
affiliation and contact details. They should be submitted by e-mail as
postscript or PDF files before June 30, 2005, to guizzard at cs.utwente.nl. Authors
will be notified of acceptance by July 29, 2005. At least one author of accepted
papers should participate in the Workshop.

Workshop proceedings will be published on three different media: First, the
proceedings of the VORTE'05 workshop will be published as part of the CTIT
Workshop Proceeding Series. Moreover, all accepted papers for the Workshop will
appear in the IEEE Digital Library. Finally, they will be distributed during the
conference in a CD-ROM together with the other workshop proceedings.
