We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.
In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.
To post to LINGUIST, use our convenient web form at

Subject: Sources on written exchanges
I'm researching exchange mechanisms (topic management, move/turn structure,
etc.) in correspondence. I have found a couple of old notes that tell me to
look at the work of ''Don'' and ''Morton''. At least Morton's work, I
think, was concerned with e-mail exchanges rather than conventional
letters, but it should still be germane to my own study. Can anybody shed
any light on these two sources, and/or suggest others of relevance?

Dear Colleagues,
I am looking for a morphological parser to introduce in my course. Is there
any Kimmo-like morphological parser written in Java programming language
which is available for public use? I would appreciate it if you could let
me know.
Sincerely,
