Description:
Arizona State University's School of Human Evolution and Social Change, an
interdisciplinary School built around the core discipline of anthropology,
invites applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the Assistant or
Associate Professor level beginning in August 2006. We seek a social/cultural
anthropologist specializing in the areas of cultural representation, material
culture, culture theory and/or anthropological linguistics in the context of an
interdisciplinary research theme concerning culture, heritage, and identity.
Duties will include conducting research leading to significant publications or
other creative activities, teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, and
engaging in academic service.

experience and plans, a curriculum vitae, and names and contact information for

December 5, 2005; or, if not filled, every two weeks until search is closed.
SHESC faculty attending the AAA meetings will be available to meet with

Requirements:
The successful applicant at the Assistant Professor level will have a Ph.D. in
anthropology awarded prior to July 1, 2006, and an active research program with
the potential to obtain external funding as well as to involve students in
fieldwork or other research. Hiring at the Associate Professor level requires a
Ph.D. in anthropology, at least 7 years of research and teaching experience, and
a distinguished publication and external funding record appropriate to rank.
Geographical areas are open, but preference will be given to applicants whose
research and teaching interests intersect with those of current faculty,
complementing and building on present strengths.
