Description:

StreamSage, a subsidiary of Comcast Communications, Inc. located in
Washington, DC, is a leader in streaming media indexing and retrieval.  We
are currently seeking candidates for the position of Search QA Analyst.

This position is responsible for performing the qualitative analysis and
interpretation of search results.  This person will be a senior member of
the QA team, responsible for the search quality metrics of the multimedia
(audio and video) search service.  This person will also assist developers
with requirements to build scripts and toolsets to establish various
metrics for search results, based on precision and recall.  Additionally,
this person will aid in other information retrieval evaluation tasks,
including speech recognition accuracy, word sense disambiguation, and user
interface testing.

Major duties include:

Gather and build multiple search results testbeds, including both content
and question logs, and record relevant answers.

Develop a systematic methodology to evaluate search results; summarize and
disseminate search results tests.

Provide developers with feedback on surface level analysis of search
results failure.

Act as a contact for qualitative search performance issues escalation.

Guide, mentor and supervise junior testers on qualitative search results
testing.

Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION:

Bachelor's degree in MIS, Computer Science, Mathematics, Computational
Linguistics, Statistics or related field.

EXPERIENCE:

At least three years experience in software testing desired.

Excellent understanding of performance metrics.

Good understanding of basic linguistic concepts.

Excellent oral/written communication and interpersonal skills.

Experience with writing scripts in a scripting language such as Perl, tcl
or Python; Java familiarity is a plus.

Proven ability to manage multiple tasks/projects as well as to lead small,
directed projects.

Creative, self-motivated team player willing to take the lead to develop
cutting-edge testing methodologies and solutions.

Requires minimal supervision.
