Description:

The Department of Classical, Middle Eastern, and Asian Languages and
Cultures at Queens College, City University of New York seeks an Assistant
Professor of Hebrew beginning September 1, 2007.

Responsibilities include teaching in and coordinating the program in Hebrew
Language, teaching reading and in-translation courses, and contributing
(teaching and advising) to departmental programs in Hebrew Culture and
Middle Eastern Studies as well as to the College's undergraduate liberal
arts curriculum. 

A PhD and native or near-native competency in Hebrew and English are
required. Preference will be given to applicants who have a PhD in hand at
the time of application. Applicants should have a demonstrated commitment
to teaching Hebrew language at all levels, as well as evidence of an active
research program. Specializations may include literature, cultural studies,
linguistics. 

Salary is commensurate with qualifications and experience, and ranges from
$38,001 to $66,292 at the rank of Assistant Professor. Excellent benefits.
