Description:
The University of Pittsburgh is offering a limited number of graduate teaching
assistantships to students applying to the MA/PhD program in Hispanic
Linguistics through the Department of Linguistics for the upcoming 2007-2008
academic year. As part of the graduate program, students specialize in Hispanic
Linguistics, including course work in Spanish phonology, syntax, dialectology
and history of the Spanish language. In addition, students receive a solid
foundation in general linguistics topics as well. Qualified applicants may be
considered for a graduate teaching assistantship, which includes tuition and fee
waivers, as well as a monthly stipend during the academic year. Graduate
assistants teach undergraduate courses offered as part of the Spanish basic
language program, which is administered through the Department of Hispanic
Languages and Literatures. Demonstration of native or native-like fluency in
Spanish is necessary prior to appointment.
