Description:
At the chair for General and Comparative Linguistics of the University of
Regensburg, the position of a 'Wissenschaftlicher Assistent' for linguistic
typology and language documentation is open and will be filled as soon as
possible. This position is the German equivalent to assistant professor,
but lacks a tenure track. Payment will be according to the German pay scale
(A13). The duration is maximally six years. However, if the future
appointee will have completed the Habilitation within this time frame,
there is a good possibility for another four years employment as
'Oberassistent' (A14) depending on the financial resources of the
University of Regensburg. The PhD degree is required before taking up the
appointment.
The main fields of teaching and research of the successful candidate are
linguistic typology and language documentation. Teaching load is five hours
per semester. The courses will contribute to the new BA and MA programs
'General and Comparative Linguistics', which are planned to be installed in
the near future. A good working command of German is required. The
successful candidate is expected to participate in the various
administrative tasks of the chair.
