Meeting Description:

Agder University College hosts a conference on language planning in Kristiansand
1-3 November 2007. The conference opens at 1 PM on Thursday, and it closes about
lunchtime on Saturday.

The conference is aimed at researchers who are interested in language planning,
persons affiliated with language planning institutions (i.e. language councils),
text producers in media and publishing houses, teachers and others interested in
language, language planning and cultivation. 

Three plenary talks are planned (40 min + 20 min for discussion). These are held
by invited researchers who will shed light on various aspects of the theme of
the conference. The plenary speakers are:
Kerstin Güthert, leader of Rat für deutsche Rechtschreibung, Mannheim
Olle Josephson, leader of The Language Council of Sweden, Stockholm
Jørn Lund, leader of Det Danske Sprog- og Litteraturselskab, Copenhagen

Call for papers: We invite proposals for individual papers (20 min + 10 min to
discussion and comments). Those who wish to present a paper, indicate this on
the registration form (including the title of the paper), and submit an abstract
(1 page only) by e-mail to spraknorm at hia.no. The deadline for paper proposals is
1 September 2007. Notification of acceptance will be given by 10 September 2007.

Conference language: Papers may be presented in one of the Scandinavian
languages (Danish, Norwegian or Swedish) or in English.
