Description:
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures at LMU, which serves a
diverse community of students, announces a tenure-track position at the
Assistant Professor level. The successful candidate will have a knowledge
of and expertise in the application and assessment of technology in foreign
language pedagogy and language proficiency assessment. Experience in
teaching foreign languages at the undergraduate level is essential.
Preference will be given to a candidate who can teach two of the following
languages including at least one East Asian language: Chinese, French,
German, Italian, Japanese, and/or Spanish. The normal teaching load for
LMU faculty is three courses (9 hours per semester). Applicants should
hold a PhD in Linguistics or Applied Linguistics in one of the required
languages. Evidence of strong scholarship or scholarly potential in areas
consistent with the requirements of the position is necessary. Salary is
competitive. Interviews will be held at the MLA convention in San
