Research Associate (French Applied Linguistics)
This is a fixed term full time appointment available from 1 January 2010
until 31 August 2010, to provide cover for maternity leave.
The School of Modern Languages is seeking applications for the position of
Post Doctoral Research Associate on the two-year ESRC-funded research
project "Learning French from ages 5, 7 and 11: An investigation into
starting ages, rates and routes of learning amongst early foreign language
learners" at Newcastle University (UK) (2009-11). You will be involved in
all aspects of the project and will make a special contribution to data
gathering, fieldwork, teaching materials development and data analysis on
this collaborative project with the University of Southampton.
You will hold a doctorate in a relevant area of linguistics/applied
linguistics/second language acquisition, and have native/near native
competence in French and English. You will also have experience of working
with young children in an educational context. Experience with CHILDES will
be an advantage.
