Description:
The English Department at the American University of Beirut invites
applications for academic positions in the field of Rhetoric and
Composition or Applied Linguistics, with emphasis on writing, to begin
September 15, 2010.
Applicants should have a PhD in Composition, Applied Linguistics (emphasis
on writing), or a closely related field at the time of appointment. Rank is
open. The successful candidate is expected to have training in second
language writing or composition pedagogy and writing program
administration, including writing center and/or Writing across the
Curriculum administration and pedagogy. The successful candidate must also
have a proven record of undergraduate and graduate teaching and a research
program appropriate to the rank at which the application is made.
Appointments are for an initial period of four years. The usual teaching
load is three courses per semester (fall/spring), including undergraduate
and graduate courses, with a one-course release for administrative work.
