The commission of 'Romania Nova' invites papers to its fourth workshop to 
be held at Campos de Jordão, São Paulo. The research commission of 
Romania nova is interested in promoting and creating a space for 
comparative studies of the Romance languages spoken in the Americas.

Romania Nova:IV WORKSHOP
24-26 of November 2010

Coordinated by:
Mary A.Kato (UNICAMP) and Francisco Ordóñez (Stony Brook, SUNY and 
USP)

The commission of ¨Romania Nova¨ invites papers to its fourth workshop to 
be held at Campos de Jordão, São Paulo. The research commission of 
Romania nova is interested in promoting and creating a space for 
comparative studies of the Romance languages spoken in the Americas. 
The areas of discussion are:
-Syntax 
-Morphology 
-Semantics 
-Historical Linguistics 

The topics of discussion have been:
-Strong and weak pronouns (datives, clitics, null subjects,clitic doubling,
Binding....) 
-Clause types (negation, imperatives, questions and wh-
questions,evidentiality, impersonal, passives....) 
-Ellipsis and null objects. 
-Non-finite clauses (raising,causatives,hiper-raising, adjuntcts....) 
- Focus constructions.  
-DP and structure of DP  
- Morphology 

The abstracts are invited for 30 minute talks (plus 10 minutes for 
discussion). Abstract should be Maximum 2 pages with examples, 
references and trees included. Font 12.

We encourage English as a lingua franca for the conference as it is usually 
done in many other Romance Language Fora. Nevertheless, papers may 
be presented in Portuguese or Spanish, but with handouts or Power-point
presentations in English.

Conference Fees:
Professors: 100 reais or $55
Students: 50 reais or   $30

Location:
Campos de Jordão is a quaint town in the state of São Paulo. We are
getting a package deal for the conference lodging.  Transportation to the 
site will be organized by us from Garulhos airport (São Paulo).  More 
information about the prices will be posted in our website soon. Any
