Description:

The Department of Linguistics and Languages at McMaster University invites
applications for a tenure-track position in Linguistics, at the rank of
Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will hold a PhD in
Linguistics with specialization in Computational Linguistics. Secondary
specialization in one of the following areas is desirable: cognitive
linguistics, cognitive modeling of language (e.g. exemplar-based
approaches), neurolinguistics, corpus-based approaches. Applicants should
have a strong research focus, demonstrated teaching ability, and be willing
to participate in departmental administrative duties. An ability to teach
undergraduate courses in general linguistics, and graduate and
undergraduate courses in computational linguistics and basic statistics is
essential.

The Department of Linguistics and Languages presently offers undergraduate
degrees (Honours) in Linguistics and Cognitive Science of Language, and is
the home of a new interdisciplinary graduate program (M.Sc./Ph.D.) in the
Cognitive Science of Language. 

The starting date for the appointment is July 1, 2010. Starting salary will
be based on experience and qualifications. Applications, including
