Description:

The Faculty of Humanities and Medias is seeking a full-time senior lecturer
in English, specialising in Linguistics. The appointment is fixed-term from
2011-07-01 to 2012-06-30, with the possibility of renewal. The post is
full-time, starting as soon as possible.

Duties:
The duties consist of teaching on and planning of courses at undergraduate
and Masters level, proficiency courses at undergraduate level, and essay
supervision. Examples of possible courses are: Introduction to Modern
English Linguistics, English Words and their Structure, English Pragmatics,
and Issues in Sociolinguistics. The successful applicant is also expected
to take part in development within the subject and in research projects
related to Högskolan Dalarna's strategic research profile area Culture,
Identity and Representation. A large part of teaching is net-based. It is
assumed that the successful applicant will work regularly at Campus Falun
during term time.

Formal requirements:
An applicant is deemed to meet the formal requirements to be employed as a
senior lecturer if they have a doctoral degree or the equivalent scientific
competence, or if they demonstrate other skills relevant for the duties of
the post, have successfully completed training in teaching at university
level, or in some other way have demonstrated equivalent skills and
pedagogical competence. Pedagogical skill is rated as highly as the other
formal requirements.

Selection criteria:
Selection criteria for employing a lecturer will take into account the
skills formally required for such employment. Also, they will take into
account administrative and other relevant skills. Skills in developing and
leading the work of personnel at the university will also be taken into
account, as well as the ability to cooperate with the community and the
ability to inform others about research and development work.

National goals regarding the job market, equality, and society will also be
taken into consideration (Higher Education Ordinances chap 4, 15 §).

Other qualifications:
Doctoral degree in English, specialising in Linguistics, or the equivalent,
as well as demonstrated pedagogical competence.

Proven experience of teaching, essay supervision in English linguistics at
undergraduate and Masters level, and language proficiency at undergraduate
level are required. Proven ability to cooperate is required since the
duties are carried out within different teams of teachers. Experience of
teaching English in an international context is of merit, as is experience
of net-based teaching. Research that is relevant for Högskolan Dalarna's
planned research area Culture, Identity and Representation is also of merit.
