Description:

The Center for Cognitive Studies at Tufts University has a position for
2011-12 for a postdoctoral fellow or visiting graduate student in
linguistics or psycholinguistics, to work under the direction of
Co-Director Ray Jackendoff. Individuals are encouraged to apply who have an
interest in applying Conceptual Semantics, the Parallel Architecture, or
the Simpler Syntax Hypothesis to new areas of empirical investigation such
as morphology, phonology, or the syntax of languages typologically distant
from English, or who wish to build connections between these theories and
other frameworks such as formal semantics, HPSG, Construction Grammar, and
Optimality Theory. In addition to pursuing research, the fellow will
participate in teaching linguistics courses in the Tufts Cognitive and
Brain Sciences program and will also participate in interdisciplinary
seminars and working groups sponsored by the Center for Cognitive Studies.
The fellow will receive a competitive stipend.

Applicants should submit a short research proposal of no more than 3
single-spaced pages; a curriculum vitae; a one-page description of approach
to teaching/mentoring and teaching experience; and three letters of
recommendation.
