The next issue of Tradumàtica will focus on Free and Open Source Software
(FOSS) in the translation and localization industry. We invite members of
the research community and teachers to send articles on this or any other
aspect of translation related to information technology.

We propose to cover: 
- FOSS tools for assisted and machine translation 
- Translation and localization of FOSS software
- FOSS tools for research and teaching in Translation and Interpreting 
- Open standards in the translation and localization industry 
Manuscripts will be submitted to our scientific committee for approval.

10 Years of Tradumàtica

In October 2001, when the pilot issue of the Tradumàtica journal came out,
there was a clear need for a new platform for discussion of translation
technology. We sought to create a forum of academia and the translation
industry for experts in localization, assisted and machine translation to
offer their experience to students, teachers, researchers and
professionals. To further this goal, at Tradumàtica we made two decisions
that shaped the journal: first, each issue of Tradumàtica would focus on a
different topic and, secondly, the journal would seek the collaboration of
experts in the field. Over the past ten years, their response has been
extremely generous and the results more than satisfactory. 

With many articles on different themes, case studies and collections of
resources compiled by some of the foremost experts in the field,
Tradumàtica has more than fulfilled the goals established 10 years ago, as
can be seen in the online archive at:

Now, at the start of a new decade, with the world of translation facing
spectacular, rapid change once again, Tradumàtica is broadening its
horizons. Without renouncing the format which has served it so well,
Tradumàtica will from now on be open to unsolicited contributions, with the
procedures in place to establish it as a high-impact journal that is cited
in the main scientific indexes.
