Linguistic Field(s): Discourse Analysis
Meeting Description:
The workshop 'Discursive Practices and Textual Realizations in Organizational Communication: Product and Process, Frontstage and Backstage' focuses on analytical instruments to be used in the investigation of text and discourse in organizational communication, advocating an approach that includes text-production processes as a privileged field of inquiry, and takes into consideration not only frontstage, but also backstage activities, with recourse frequently also being made to ethnographic tools to verify insights gained through discourse analysis. Topics to be discussed include : texts and discursive practices in organizations; product- or process-related aspects of business / professional / institutional communication; investigations of text production processes; methods and tools for the analysis of frontstage and backstage discourse-based activities; application of ethnographic methods to discourse analysis. The Workshop will be followed by a PhD Colloqium sponsored by ABC Europe.
