We'd like to remind readers that the responses to queries are usually
best posted to the individual asking the question. That individual is
then strongly encouraged to post a summary to the list. This policy was
instituted to help control the huge volume of mail on LINGUIST; so we
would appreciate your cooperating with it whenever it seems appropriate.
In addition to posting a summary, we'd like to remind people that it
is usually a good idea to personally thank those individuals who have
taken the trouble to respond to the query.
To post to LINGUIST, use our convenient web form at
http://linguistlist.org/LL/posttolinguist.cfm.

I am an Assistant Professor in Marketing at the University of
Sassari(Sardinia-Italy). I'm currently conducting a research study which aims
to investigate how association meeting organizers select convention sites for
their international meetings (that is, meetings located out of the Association's
home country). At present there is little rigorous information available to guide
this important decision. Our study aims to address this important knowledge
gap.
We would be most grateful if you could kindly participate in the survey which
takes about 20 to 30 minutes to complete (if you are not the person
responsible for selecting the meeting site, kindly forward this email to the
colleague who is). Your contribution is especially important for this study.
Please complete and return the questionnaire by May 21. This survey is
entirely confidential.
For this purpose, please use the questionnaire which is available as an online
survey accessible from the following link:
http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/WKQV2GP.
Please, read the instructions that you will find at the beginning of the
questionnaire before starting to answer.
Every respondent will be eligible to enter a prize draw to win one of 6 week-
end hotel stays for two people free of charge (three in the tourist area of
Garda Lake and three in Sardinia, please find the list of prizes attached). The
prize will cover just the cost of accommodation. All other costs are the
responsibility of the prize winner. If you would like to
participate, please give us (at the end of the questionnaire) your e-mail so
that we can include you in the draw. The six prize winners will be advised by
email no later than April 30, 2012 and you will receive a copy of the final
research report.
The 6 stays will be drawn among those who have fully completed the
questionnaire.
Data gathered will be used in order to write scientific papers for national
and/or international journals or conferences related to the topic of tourism
marketing. We believe that the results will help to improve the performance of
the international meetings industry by enabling convention site hosts to
improve their facilities and services to the Associations' meetings industry.
Meeting planners involved in the convention site selection process will also
gain a deeper knowledge of how their peers in other associations go about the
important task of selecting ideal convention locations.
If you have any questions regarding the research, please email
gdelchiappa at uniss.it. We hope to receive your valuable input for the
success of the research. We wish you a nice day.
Further information and instructions are provided at the start of the survey.
Sincerely.
Dr. Giacomo Del Chiappa
