Assistant Professor - Intercultural Communication
The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures is inviting
applications for a full-time, tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant
Professor, specializing in Intercultural Communication, commencing
August 1, 2013 (subject to final budgetary approval). The ideal
candidate will have a Ph.D. in Anthropology or Linguistics, with an
interest in the ethnography of communication, have an excellent record
in teaching and an outstanding research record, as well as a very well
developed research program for the next 5 years. The successful
candidate will be teaching mainly in English, but the ability to teach in
one of the Department's languages, especially Chinese (Mandarin),
would be an asset.
We are looking for someone who will be able to teach undergraduate
linguistics in the interdisciplinary Bachelor's degree in Arts and
Contemporary Studies (www.ryerson.ca/artsandcontemporarystudies)
and to join the Yeates School of Graduate Studies in order to become
involved in one of the Faculty of Arts' graduate programs, such as the
M.A. in Immigration and Settlement Studies and the M.A. and Ph.D. in
Communication and Culture. The candidate will also have experience
in providing service to the academic and/or professional community.
Finally, in anticipation of the launch of the Department's undergraduate
degree in Language and Intercultural Communication, the candidate
will have an ability to participate in the promotion and development of
this new and exciting program.
