Visiting Lecturer of Persian - Department of Linguistics, University of
Illinois at Urbana-Champaign

The Department of Linguistics at the University of Illinois at
Urbana-Champaign invites applications for an annually appointed full-time
position as Lecturer of Persian for the 2013-14 academic year, with a target
start date of August 16, 2013. The position is renewable for a second year
based upon performance. Renewal of the position beyond the second year is
contingent on availability of funding, strong performance reviews and
significant increase in enrollments.

The position involves teaching six courses per year in Persian language and
language-related areas. In addition to teaching duties, the new Lecturer will
be responsible for coordinating all aspects of the Persian Language Program on
campus, including student and community outreach, and developing advanced
level courses in Persian language and culture.

Native or near-native command of Persian is required, as is previous
experience teaching Persian as a second language in post-secondary
institutions. The successful candidate should have a Ph.D. in an area related
to Persian language and culture (Ph. D should be in hand by the date of
appointment). Experience with course development and instructional and web
technology is highly desirable. Salary competitive and commensurate with
experience; full benefits are included.
