Description:
The Department of English and the Linguistics Program at the College of
William and Mary in Williamsburg, VA invite applications for a one-year
Instructor or Visiting Assistant Professor position in sociocultural
linguistics beginning August 2013, with the possibility of extension of up to
three years pending budget approval.
We are a strong linguistics program atone of the best small public
universities, and we are seeking a colleague with a real commitment to
excellence in teaching and research. Teaching may include undergraduate
courses in sociolinguistics, linguistic anthropology, and introductory
linguistics, as well as advanced courses in the candidate’s area of
specialization. Experience in quantitative approaches, language ideology,
research methods, language and gender, multilingualism, or language and
identity would be desirable.
Required Qualifications: Ph.D. with specialization in sociolinguistics or
linguistic anthropology.
