Description:

The Department of Linguistics at Georgetown University is pleased to announce a tenure-track position at the Assistant Professor level in computational linguistics with a specialization in corpus linguistics.  We seek candidates with expertise in the following areas:

1. Building and working with corpora of linguistic data.
2. Using corpora to advance research in one or more areas of linguistics.

This expertise may be manifest in various ways, such as the building of new types of language corpora, using corpora to test hypotheses about important issues in linguistics, and using corpora in natural language processing techniques of practical value.  A successful candidate will also show evidence of excellence in teaching and, based on the above two areas of essential competence, he or she will be expected to teach and collaborate with a wide variety of students and colleagues across the department and University.

The appointment will start on August 1, 2014. Applicants must have completed all requirements for the PhD degree by the time of appointment.
