Description:

The Department of East Asian Languages and Cultures at Wellesley College invites applications for a full-time, non-tenure track lecturer position in Korean language to begin Fall 2014. An initial one-year contract is renewable after a first-year review; longer subsequent contract terms are possible.

We seek a candidate who has proven skills in Korean language instruction and classroom technology at all levels. Responsibilities include teaching four language courses each year (two per semester) supplemented by additional class meetings at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), with which Wellesley has a long-standing exchange program. The successful candidate will also provide assistance to the Director in the development of the Korean Program, including advising students, mentoring a teaching assistant, conducting placement tests, and building up resources. Salary is highly competitive.

Ph.D. preferred (M.A. considered); degree to be in a relevant field including Korean linguistics, language pedagogy, or applied linguistics; native or near-native fluency in Korean and English; substantial teaching experience at the college level is desirable.
