Sør-Trøndelag University College, Faculty of Teacher and Interpreter Education
in Trondheim, Norway is seeking applicants for a newly created permanent full
Professor position in Applied Linguistics and English language teaching or
English Literature. Candidates with major interests in multilingualism, TESOL,
children’s and young adult literature, American literature or world literature
in English will be prioritized.

The English Section at the Faculty of Teacher and Interpreter Education offers
English modules (English 1 and English 2, each consisting of 30 ECTS credits)
which lead to a Bachelor’s Degree in Education. The degree qualifies students
for teaching in Norwegian primary and secondary schools. The College also
offers an in-service course for English teachers. Sør-Trøndelag University
College will soon offer a two-year Master’s Degree in English.

The English Section currently consists of 4 Associate Professors and 3
Assistant Professors.

In addition to the formal academic qualifications, personal skills and
enthusiasm for the role are crucial in the assessment of the successful
candidate. Those invited for an interview will be asked to prepare a short
lecture intended for a student audience on a topic that will be provided.
Students may be present at the trial lecture.

- Play a major role in developing the scope and quality of research in the
English Section, and in the Faculty of Teacher and Interpreter Education.
Approximately half of the post is reserved for research, research-related
activities and administration of research
- Display leadership and stimulate others to conduct research and scholarship
with the aim of publishing in high-quality journals
- National and international network building and project development
- Instruction, course development, marking, examination, and student
supervision, particularly at Master level

- A Norwegian PhD (or foreign equivalent PhD) in English is essential
- Teaching and supervision experience at all levels, from undergraduate to PhD
level, is essential
- An outstanding track record of making innovative teaching and learning
contributions to post-graduate programs is desirable
- An outstanding established and sustained track record of leading-edge
research and publications is essential
- A track record of securing research and consultancy grant funding is
- Experience in using ICT in an educational context is essential
- To be considered for appointment, a certificate of completed teaching
practice and training (practicum) or equivalent experience is normally
required. Candidates without such training will be required to complete it
within three years of employment
