Description:

The University of Agder, Faculty of Humanities and Education, invites applications for a three-year, full-time position as research fellow in Linguistics. The position is associated with the PhD programme in Linguistics at the Faculty of Humanities and Education. More information about Linguistics at the University of Agder is available at website:

Requirements:
The applicant must have a Master's degree in Linguistics (or equivalent) within one of the languages offered by the University of Agder.
Applications from across the specialization will be considered, but the project must be anchored in one of the subject disciplines offered by the Faculty of Humanities and Education: Norwegian, English, French, German or Spanish Linguistics, Language Pedagogy tied to one of these languages, Translation and Professional Communication, and Text and Discourse Studies.

Engagement as a research fellow is done in accordance with the Regulations concerning terms and conditions of employment for the positions of post-doctoral research fellows, research fellows, research assistants and specialized residents.

This is a qualifying position, and demands the capacity to work in a manner that is goal-directed, concentrated, organized and independent. In the evaluation for the position, primary emphasis will be placed on the applicants' examination results and their potential for academic work, as well as the relevance of their academic background, published and unpublished work, and the quality and relevance of their project descriptions. Relevant work experience, personal suitability and cooperative skills will also be a part of the evaluation.
The successful applicant must be accepted into the University of Agder's PhD programme within the Faculty of Humanities and Education.

Applicants should develop a project description of 6-10 pages (including references) to be included with the application materials. This project description must present and discuss possible research questions, the project's theoretical background and methodology, as well as propose a work plan and a timetable.
