The Department of Applied Linguistics at The Pennsylvania State University
invites applications for the position of Administrative Director in its
newly-developed English for Professional Purposes Intercultural Center
(EPPIC).  This center aims to conduct research on language-in-use among
academic and professional units across the university, to provide advanced
English language support services to internationals, and to pair domestic
undergraduates with international students to enhance their joint
intercultural communication skills for global careers.

The Administrative Director will be responsible for creating successful
collaborative relationships with a range of university units, supervising the
assessment of socialization and language practices in those programs, and
overseeing the creation of customized English language instruction for
internationals.  The Director will work with a faculty research liaison,
pedagogical specialist, and graduate students from Applied Linguistics.

Required Qualifications: 1) A Ph.D. in Applied Linguistics, TESL, SLA,
Linguistics, Linguistic Anthropology, or related fields emphasizing the study
of spoken and/or written academic and professional language; 2) Experience
teaching academic, institutional, corporate, or professional English; 3)
Command of the English language at the level of a native-speaker; and 4)
Outstanding professional, interpersonal, and intercultural communication
skills.

Desirable Qualifications: 1) Experience teaching ESL/EAP/ESP/EPP in culturally
diverse settings and 2) Experience conducting analysis of naturally-occurring
written and/or spoken language.

This position is a full-time twelve-month academic professional appointment,
to begin in July 2015.  Salary is commensurate with experience and
qualifications.
