Description:

The Faculty of Arts of the University of Groningen is looking for two
University Lecturers in Communication and Information Sciences (CIW): one in
the field of language and social interaction and one in the field of text
analysis and written communication. Qualitative and quantitative research
methods play important roles in the department’s teaching and research.

The new University Lecturers will be expected to be widely deployable in the
teaching within the bachelor’s and master’s degree programmes in CIW, the
Bachelor’s degree programme in Dutch Language and Culture (NTC) and the
Master’s degree programme in Dutch Studies, in particular in the fields of
conversation analysis as well as text analysis and written communication. The
new University Lecturers will play a role in acquiring, conducting and
supervising interaction research or research into written communication. This
could be a subject of the department’s research on health communication or
that on educational communication.

The candidates should be capable of attracting students to the degree
programme in Communication and Information Sciences through a combination of a
welcoming attitude and inspiring teaching methods.

The research will form part of the Centre for Language and Cognition Groningen
(CLCG) research institute.

Specific duties
- Teaching lectures and seminars in the fields of conversation analysis, text
analysis, written communication within the bachelor’s degree programmes in
CIW/NTC and the master’s degree programmes in CIW/Dutch Studies
- Conducting research at a recognized level in the above-mentioned field
- Supervising bachelor’s and master’s theses in the above-mentioned field
- Performing administrative and organizational duties.
