Description:
The research project “Obligatory presupposition triggers – experimental evidence” (ObTrEx) [1] at the University of Tuebingen is looking to fill a 2-year PhD position starting October 2015. The position might be available for up to three more years after the first funding period of the project ends in October 2017. Payment is according to the German TV-L pay scale (TV-L 13 65%).
The PhD position is available in a project within the Priority Programme Xprag.de [2] which is funded by the DFG (German Research Foundation). Its goal is to develop a precise pragmatic theory that is informed by empirical evidence using experimental methods. The project is moreover associated with the SFB 833 “The constitution of meaning” [3] which is a joint research initiative investigating the emergence of meaning.
Candidates are expected to have substantial previous knowledge of natural language semantics and pragmatics. Some background in designing, conducting and analysing experiments would be ideal. There are no teaching obligations; time to pursue independent research will be available.
Please send applications (a single PDF file containing a motivation letter, CV, list of publications and research statement including a short summary of the B.A./M.A. thesis) by email to Nadine Bade, (email address below). Applications received by September 1st, 2015 will receive full consideration. The position is open until filled. For further information, send an email to Nadine Bade.
