Description:

The chair of Theoretical and German Linguistics at the Department of Linguistics, University of Stuttgart, Germany, invites applications for one Ph.D. position in theoretical linguistics, available from October 1st (or later) for a duration of 24 months. Salary is according to the German TV-L E13
(65%) scale.

The candidate will contribute to the project B6 of the Sonderforschungsbereich (collaborative research center) 732, (http://www.uni-stuttgart.de/linguistik/sfb732/), 'Incremental Specification in Context', ideally by combining the perspective of this project with that of project B8. Project B6 investigates voice systems and the syntax-morphology interface. Project B8 investigates argument alternations and binding.

The principal investigator of project B8 will change in the months to come and will most likely be the same as the present principal investigator of project B6, Daniel Hole.

Desired Qualifications:

- Excellent university degree in linguistics
- Specialization in/interest in comparative linguistics
- Previous exposure to syntactic, morphological and/or semantic theory
