Description:

The Department of Linguistics, Bogazici University, invites applications for two positions, one to be filled by a Turkish national and one to be filled by a foreign national starting in the academic year of 2016-2017.

For the foreign national, specialization in phonology is required; research and teaching experience in prosodic phonology and/or phonetics will be an advantage.

For the Turkish national, specialization in one of following areas will be an advantage: sociolinguistics, language contact, typology, phonetics, phonology, prosodic phonology. 

The successful candidates will be expected to teach a minimum of two linguistics courses per term. Responsibilities include teaching and thesis supervision at the undergraduate, MA and PhD levels, contribution to course and project development, and undertaking administrative duties. Bogazici University is committed to excellence in teaching and research, and applicants should have a record commensurate with these qualities. 

The successful Turkish nationals will be employed at the rank of Assistant Professor, starting with a salary of approximately 3200 TL per month (after tax). The foreign national will be employed at the rank of Assistant Professor, starting with a base salary of approximately 4700 TL per month (after tax) subject to a yearly renewable contract, and will have national health insurance. 

Requirements:

The applicants should hold a PhD in Linguistics. They should provide a CV, a statement of academic interests, and sample work.
