Description:
As an Associate Linguist, you will be annotating and reviewing linguistic data
for both experimental and current NLP production projects. You will also
contribute to a number of other tasks to improve language modeling systems,
such as error analysis, grammar creation, and writing of linguistic
documentation.
Work will be done onsite in Mountain View, CA.
Responsibilities include:
- Annotating and reviewing linguistic data
- Applying semantic, syntactic and morphological labels to text
- Annotating lexical features
- Context-free grammar analysis and design
- Error analysis for current system outputs
- Deriving NLP data for new and ongoing projects
Job requirements:
- Degree in Linguistics or Computational Linguistics
- Native-level speaker of English
- Knowledge of semantics and syntax
- Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and learn in-house tools
- Keen interest in technology and computer-literate
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Attention to detail and good organizational skills
- Ability to multitask effectively and adjust smoothly to changing priorities
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience with annotation work in semantics and syntax
- Proficiency in at least one other language
- Experience with programming/scripting and working in Linux/Unix environment
Project duration:
12 months (with potential for extension). This is a fixed-term contract, not a
permanent position.
