Description:

The University of Western Australia (UWA), a member of the prestigious Group
of Eight research-intensive universities, is ranked amongst the top Australian
universities and among the top 100 universities in the world.

The School of Social Sciences at the University of Western Australia is
seeking an outstanding Linguistics researcher and teacher to join the team.
The successful applicant will be able to teach across core areas of the
discipline that are central to the Linguistics undergraduate major and Honours
program, and potentially in Postgraduate coursework. They will have the
flexibility for collaborative and innovative teaching across a range of units.

About the role: 

The successful applicant will have research interests will both complement and
grow the research currently conducted in the Linguistics Discipline Group and
contribute to strategic directions in the School of Social Sciences more
broadly. The School is particularly interested in applications from candidates
with a research program in the area of language diversity with a focus on the
description and continuation of minority languages of Indo-Pacific societies.

This is initially a three-year appointment with possibilities for conversion
to a continuing position.

To be considered for this role, you will demonstrate:

- PhD in Linguistics.

- Strong record of research publication relative to career stage.

- Research program in Linguistics that contributes to the School’s strategic
priorities

- Ability and willingness to develop, co-ordinate and teach units at all
undergraduate levels across a number of the following areas: introductory
linguistics, phonetics, phonology, morphology, linguistic typology, language
description, language documentation and continuation, and applied linguistics.

- Commitment to pursue the best educational practices, and to implement
institutional goals.

- Ability to relate well to staff and students at all levels and evidence of a
commitment to equity and diversity principles.
