Description:

The University of Vienna (15 faculties, 4 centres, about 188 fields of study,
approx. 9.700 members of staff, more than 92.000 students) seeks to fill the
position from 01.10.2017 of a Visiting Professor at the Department of Romance
Studies to 31.01.2018.

As stated in its development plan

University of Vienna aims at strengthening its position as a major
research-oriented university. Key elements of this strategy include the

professorial appointments.

The University of Vienna offers:

Duration of employment: 4 month/s

Extent of Employment: 40 hours/week

Job grading in accordance with collective bargaining agreement: Univ Prof.
(KV) Gastprof. with relevant work experience determining the assignment to a
particular salary grade.

Job Description: 
Successfull candidates should be specialised in linguistics (French and
Portuguese), in particular in intercultural research and plurilinguism. They
will teach both undergraduates and graduates in the Bachelor and the Master
programme "Romanistik". Their teaching load will be 8 hours per week.

Successful candidates will have the following qualifications:
- PhD and post-doctoral experience at a university or other research
institution (Austrian or equivalent international academic degree in the
relevant field).
- Outstanding research and publication record, with an excellent reputation as
an active member in the international academic community, (Habilitation (venia
docendi) or equivalent international qualification in the relevant field is
desirable)
- Experience in designing, procuring and directing major research projects,
and willingness and ability to assume the responsibility of team leadership
- Experience in university teaching, and willingness and ability to teach at
all curricular levels, to supervise theses, and to further the work of junior
academic colleagues.
