Description:
The Department of Linguistics & Philosophy at MIT invites applications for a
tenure-track position in linguistics at the Assistant Professor level,
starting July 1, 2018. The appointment will be made either in the area of
Language Acquisition or Experimental/Computational Linguistics. The
department particularly seeks candidates whose research connects productively
with current linguistic theory in the areas of syntax and its interfaces and
work that engages with multiple sub-disciplines of linguistics or bridges
between linguistics and adjacent research agendas in cognitive science such as
(computational) modeling of learnability or human sentence processing is
valued especially highly. The successful candidate will have a PhD or
equivalent in Linguistics or a related field, and will be expected to
participate in the research, teaching and advising activities of our
department.
Consideration of applications will begin on December 15, 2017. To ensure full
consideration, applications should be complete and letters of recommendation
received by this date, but we will consider all applications submitted until
the position is filled.
