Description:

The MA in TESOL Program, Department of Applied Linguistics, anticipates one
opening for a specialist to teach and do research in the area of SLA/TESOL,
with expertise in the area of instructed SLA. Secondary focus would also be
desirable in the area methodology in teaching English as a foreign/second
language. Experience or interest in pragmatics, community-based learning and
/or online learning would also be an asset.  The position primarily involves
teaching in the MATESOL program, and maintaining an active research agenda. 

Requirements:

A Ph.D. in hand in Applied Linguistics, TESOL, or a related field is required.
 Teaching experience is a must, with preference given to those with experience
in training EFL/ESL teachers. 

Successful candidates should have an ongoing program of research and a
demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching. It would be strongly
desirable for the candidate to have experience teaching in a TESOL program.
Responsibilities include graduate teaching; supervising master’s theses;
maintaining an active program of research and publications; and service to the
Department and the University.  
Priority will be given to applications received by January 15, 2018. Position
is open until filled. Short-listed candidates will be interviewed in person or
via teleconference shortly thereafter.

Additional Information:

It is anticipated that this will be a 5-year position at the rank of Assistant
Professor, and is not tenure track. It will begin in September 2018. Renewal
of an appointment depends upon institutional needs and the appointee's
performance.
