Meeting Description:
This graduate conference in French language, theoretical & applied linguistics
as well as pedagogy, literature, civilization, culture, digital technologies,
women's and queer studies, is designed to provide MA and doctoral students
with the opportunity to present their research by giving a talk or work in
progress in a roundtable.
Participants will also be able to sign up for two research workshops:
1. Dr. Alain-Philippe Durand (Dean and Professor of French, University of
Arizona): ''How to build a research agenda in hip hop studies and an overview
of the field''.
2. Dr. Emily Hellmich (Assistant Professor of French Linguistics and Second
Language Acquisition & Teaching, University of Arizona): Digital technologies
and language learning.
In addition, we are delighted to welcome two invited plenary speakers: Dr.
Denis Jamet from the Université de Lyon whose plenary is entitled “Euphemisms
for physical and mental illnesses in French and English”; and Dr. Lydie
Moudileno from the University of Southern California whose plenary is entitled
“The Multicultural Comedy: Race, Humor, and the Republic”.
Call for Papers:
MA and doctoral students in French are invited to submit an abstract for an
oral presentation (20 minutes + 10 minutes for questions/comments) or for a
round-table for work in progress (15 minutes + 15 minutes for a constructive
discussion and helpful feedback). It can be a research paper written for a
class or part of a thesis or dissertation.
