Job Title: Junior Research Group Leader
Job Rank: Researcher
Specialty Areas: Phonology; Pragmatics; Semantics; Syntax
Description:
Are you heading a junior research group or are in the process of writing a
grant proposal for a junior research group (e.g., an Emmy Noether-Research
Group or an ERC grant)? The CRC 1252 Prominence in Language at the University
of Cologne invites applications for an integrated junior research group by
junior researcher group leaders who work on topics related to the CRC.
In order to promote outstanding research among early career researchers, we
offer the opportunity to carry out independent research in the vibrant
research environment of the CRC 1252 Prominence in Language.
Funding for the CRC 1252 Prominence in Language has been granted by the DFG
for the period from January 1st, 2017 to December 31st, 2020.
We encourage applications from postdocs whose research focus is related to the
topics pursued by the CRC. Within the CRC, prominence is a key notion in our
understanding of language as a flexible system. It plays a major role in
building linguistic structures and in organizing the communicated information
into coherent and continually updated discourse representations. The overall
goal of the CRC Prominence in Language is to shed light on the nature of
linguistic prominence.
The aim of the integrated junior research group is to increase the
international visibility of the CRC 1252 and to facilitate the international
networking in the first funding period (2017 – 2020).
We offer:
- up to 45.000 euros from Jan 2018 – Dec 2020 (up to 15.000 euros p.a.) to be
used flexibly for travel, student assistants, workshops and guests
- office space at our CRC-building at Luxemburgerstr. 299, 50939 Cologne
- administrative support
- active research environment with 19 projects
- numerous opportunities to work with the CRC 1252 in a variety of linguistic
areas as well as with the linguists at the University of Cologne
We expect close cooperation with the researchers within the CRC 1252. In
addition, we encourage participation at all relevant meetings and workshops.
Interested individuals should submit an application including a short
curriculum vitae, a two-page proposal for the planned collaboration with the
CRC 1252, and documentation of their status as junior research group leader.
