Subject: Call for Chapters: Pragmemes at the marketplace
Following Mey (2001), a strand of research in pragmatics on pragmemes has
emerged, concentrating on the analysis of long stretches of everyday speech
contextualized in a cultural setting. (See the book coedited by Allan, Capone,
Kecskes, Springer, Pragmemes and theories of language use).
While we have recently seen a recent book on pragmemes and the event of death
(and the interaction around that event) (Parvaresh and Capone, Springer), we
have not yet seen a volume on pragmemes at the marketplace in the world
cultures.
I invite potential authors to send me abstracts for such a volume, to be
submitted to my series with Springer. Such authors should look at my paper
Pragmemes (again) Lingua (online) to see how they can contribute to this topic
from the point of view of their language and culture.

This book would be an exercise in cultural pragmatics. It will be submitted to
my series with Springer, Perspectives in Pragmatics, Philosophy, Psychology.
I will invite Keith Allan to act as co-editor.
I am looking forward to receiving your abstracts.
