Description:
The University of Texas at San Antonio invites applications for a tenure-track
Assistant Professor of Hispanic Linguistics with a specialization in Spanish
morphosyntax, heritage Spanish, and/or applied linguistics to begin Fall 2019.
UTSA is a thriving Hispanic-serving institution on the path to highest
research activity status designation and ranked as one of the top five young
universities in the United States by Times Higher Education in 2018.
The Department of Modern Languages and Literatures seeks a dynamic individual
to contribute to teaching, discovery, and service in the following ways:
Responsibilities:
- Teaching in the Spanish B.A. and M.A. programs, the Linguistics minor, and
the Graduate Certificate in Linguistics
- Maintaining an active research agenda
- Leadership in developing new lines of research and teaching
- Contributing to the university and community through service activities
Required Qualifications:
- Ph.D. in Spanish linguistics, applied linguistics, foreign language
education, or related field in hand by the beginning of appointment
- Native or near-native fluency in Spanish
- Research record or demonstrated research potential commensurate with
experience
- University-level teaching experience
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with first-generation students and diverse student
populations, especially heritage language learners
- Successful record of securing external grants or potential to secure
external funding
