$94,736 to $112,279 per annum (Lecturer Level) or $115,785 to $133330 per

Linguistics is located in the School of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences
(HASS), which is proud of its dynamic research culture and strong tradition of
teaching. HASS also includes seven Language disciplines, Sociology, Indigenous
Studies, Classical Languages, English, Media and Communications and several
other disciplines. The School of HASS, together with the School of Education,
make up the Faculty of HASSE. This structure creates multiple opportunities
for cross-disciplinary teaching and research.
About the Role:
The successful applicant will join a collegial and highly productive
Linguistics team. At UNE we teach general and applied linguistics, offering an
undergraduate major in various Bachelor degrees and a postgraduate Master of
Applied Linguistics as well as supervising a high number of PhD students.
Linguistics staff have a strong research profile with a high publication rate
and a record of success in external grants. The successful candidate will
contribute to the strengthening and further development of our expertise in
Aboriginal languages as well as teaching other units at undergraduate and
postgraduate level.
Skills and Experience:
You will have a strong background in general linguistics and a track record of
research and publication in descriptive linguistics, preferably with expertise
in Australian Aboriginal languages. Much of UNE's teaching is online, so
familiarity with online pedagogies is an advantage, as well as expertise in
face to face teaching and supervision of HDR students. You will contribute to
the energetic research culture of Linguistics and be expected to make a
service contribution to the discipline and the university.
