Description:
The University of Oxford proposes to appoint an Associate Professor in
Semantics, based in the Faculty of Linguistics, Philology and Phonetics, at
the Clarendon Institute, Walton Street, Oxford, OX1 2HG, to hold office from 1
July 2020. The post will be held in conjunction with a Tutorial Fellowship at
Jesus College and a Lectureship at Brasenose College, Oxford.
The Faculty and the two Colleges are looking to appoint a specialist in
Semantics and Pragmatics. The successful applicant will hold a doctorate in
Linguistics (or equivalent) with a research specialisation in semantics,
including pragmatics. The applicant will have experience in teaching semantics
and pragmatics at the undergraduate and graduate level; the ability to develop
undergraduate and graduate course materials in semantics and pragmatics; a
record of, or demonstrable potential for, internationally excellent
publications in highly-ranked academic journals and with major presses; and an
interest in, and willingness to contribute to, outreach activities for both
the Faculty and the Colleges. He or she will also teach tutorials and classes
in general linguistics to undergraduate students of the two Colleges and
others, as required.

In addition to salary the financial package has additional benefits including
single accommodation in College free of rent or a housing allowance of £13,003
p.a. and access to an equity sharing scheme, plus other benefits. An allowance
of £2,754 p.a. would be payable upon award of Full Professor title.

expected that interviews will be held in November 2019.
