The varied programme consists of sixteen courses taught by internationally re-nowned experts in the fields of: machine translation, specialised translation and terminolo-gy management, computer-aided translation, pre- and post-editing, dubbing and subtitling, literary translation, localisation, translation project management, as well as interpreting.

The summer school is recommended for MA and PhD students as well as for practicing translators and interpreters.
Description:
True to the motto “Translation Studies Meet Translation Practice”, SummerTrans
VIII aims to advance participants’ theoretical knowledge of and practical
skills in translation and in-terpreting. The varied programme consists of
sixteen courses taught by internationally re-nowned experts in the fields of:
machine translation, specialised translation and terminolo-gy management,
computer-aided translation, pre- and post-editing, dubbing and subtitling,
literary translation, localisation, translation project management, as well as
interpreting.
Organised by the Department of Translation Studies at the University of
Innsbruck in Austria under the auspices of the IATI (International Academy for
Translation and Interpreting) in addition to numerous sponsors, the summer
school offers a broad variety of courses and workshops on new developments
relating to theory and practice in translation and interpreting, from which
participants can create their own individual programme. Accordingly, courses
on the following topics, amongst others, will be offered in the course
programme: utilization and application of corpora in translation, machine
translation, pre-editing and post-editing, competency in translation,
translation quality and translation methodology from today and tomorrow –
between human, market and machine, fundamentals of translation policy,
translation cultures in German-speaking countries, new findings in specific
types of translation such as LSP-translation, legal translation and
terminology management, audio-visual translation, film dubbing and subtitling,
literary translation, interpreting strategies and interpreting teaching,
management of translation projects, requirements for the economically
successful practice of translation and interpreting professions, in addition
to many more topics.

Tuition: 450 EUR
Tuition Explanation: Reduced rate for students: €200. After 31 May this will be €500 for general
participants and €250 for students. It is also possible to enroll for a single
course at €150
Financial Aid: Applications accepted until 20-May-2019
Successful applicants will have their registration fees covered and receive a modest bursary for travel expenses (approximately EUR 250).
