Description:

The Department of Language Studies at the University of Toronto Mississauga
invites applications for Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream position in the
area of English Language Linguistics and Online Teaching. The start date is
July 1, 2020, or shortly thereafter.

The successful candidate must have earned a PhD in Linguistics or a related
area by the time of appointment or shortly thereafter. A record of excellence
in teaching, including extensive knowledge of pedagogical content development
and curriculum design, and a demonstrated commitment to continued
pedagogical/professional development are required. Candidates must have
teaching expertise in a degree granting program at the undergraduate level,
including lecture preparation and course responsibilities, curriculum
development, teaching of large classes and development of online
material/lectures. We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and
build on our existing departmental strengths. Candidates must demonstrate a
commitment to excellent pedagogical practices in Linguistics, as well as
interest in teaching-related scholarly activities. Native or near-native
proficiency in English is required.

- A curriculum vitae,
- A teaching dossier (including a teaching statement,
- Sample syllabi, course materials, and teaching evaluations),
- An outline of current and future teaching-related interests,
- A diversity statement as it relates to research, teaching, and service (as
outlined below), and
- One representative sample of scholarship.
