Description:
The Languages Across Cultures Lab in the Institute for Intelligent Systems at
The University of Memphis seeks candidates for a post-doctoral position in
computational social science (or related fields) and multimodal communication.
The ideal candidate could come from the fields of computer science and/or
engineering, cognitive science, data science, or computational social science
fields such as psychology or information science. Knowledge of statistical
analysis software and/or a programming language would be advantageous.
The post-doctoral researcher will gain hands-on experience with multimodal
technology from the Consumer Neuro-Insights Research Lab, communication and
social science methods from the Languages Across Cultures Lab, statistical and
modeling mentorship from the Department of Mathematical Sciences and the
Institute for Intelligent Systems, and integrative signal analysis using
psychophysiological, vocal acoustic and aerodynamic measures in the Voice,
Emotion, and Cognition Laboratory.
The post-doctoral researcher will also have access to travel funds through the
Institute for Intelligent Systems, will be included in publications, and is
encouraged to develop an independent research agenda where they will be the
first author. The successful candidate will also gain firsthand experience and
mentorship in grant-writing, and have the opportunity to present shared and
independent work at conferences.
