Description:

Duties include a teaching load of 3 courses for fall semester and 3 courses
for spring semester, customized language instruction offerings, and ongoing
curricular and pedagogical innovation, as well as service and professional
development This is a one-year, non-tenure track, renewable position with full
benefits, with an expected start date of August 24, 2020.

 
This position will support the University’s commitment to innovation in
teaching as well as the World Language Center's
(https://cssh.northeastern.edu/wlc/) vision of developing students'
intercultural communicative competence and the Writing Program’s goal of
educating writers at all levels. Candidates should have a demonstrated
commitment to fostering diverse and inclusive environments as well as to
promoting experiential learning, which are central to a Northeastern
University education.

A Ph.D. or terminal degree in German or a related field in hand by the start
of the appointment. The successful applicant should be well trained in the
teaching of German as a foreign language, have experience teaching languages
using technology, and possess native or near native proficiency in German and
English. Special consideration will be given to candidates who are able to
teach courses in hybrid or online formats. In addition, the successful
candidate should be prepared to teach English writing classes. Experience
working with multilingual writers is highly desirable. A degree in German or
English applied linguistics (TESOL), second language acquisition, or pedagogy
is highly desirable.
